A brazilian website created a service to help football fans to keep up with what is going on with their favorite teams.

Siga sue time (follow your team) has a couple of different ways that you can choose to receive real time news related to the club you support.
The user can choose to follow the news using Twitter, Facebook, Orkut, Email, RSS, SMS or visiting the web page. It’s also available a msn messenger bot and a gtalk bot that sends messages back to the user whenever the user sends one of the keywords available.

The website is gathering more and more users and already has more the 500k followers.

Following the same pattern (football and social medias) a brazilian football club (São Paulo Futebol Clube) used a new strategy to launch their website.The new website would be released when the number of tweets with the hashtag #novositesoberano reached 123,000. The club setup a counter page showing how far they were to reach their goal.
The number (123k messages) picked to release the new website was chosen for a reason. The record attendance on a match of this team was over 122.000 people and they want to beat that number.
They reached the 123.000 messages in less than 12h.
