Coffee Break (Three)
Categories: Coffee Break
We invite colleagues, competitors, clients and other skilled people from the industry for a coffee. Today’s guest is Gina Burøy-Olsen, Head of Online Sales in NetCom.
Gina was born and raised in the north of Norway, more accurately in Andenes in Vesterålen. She moved to the south to study at Handelshøyskolen BI, and by now has long experience working with telecom and digital. Gina lives by the motto “Everything is possible!”.
What inspires you?
Lots! I am inspired to work in an environment where different disciplines meet, the interaction of working together is unique. A team that has control over the whole value chain makes the impossible possible. Innovation is another drive, being involved in and influencing the creation of something new, is inspiring in itself. Music and art are of course also strong sources. I love taking pictures – and many a challenge has fixed itself by taking a walk in the beautiful scenery. But most of all, I’m inspired by dedicated people who are keen to reach a goal.
How do you keep exploring and learning?
Since I live and breathe digital, I pick up a lot of blogs, feeds, and international sites. In addition, I learn a lot of people around me. With two children in the house, I must admit that google many a time have been the rescue to give my children a proper and good answer to their questions.
When where you amazed last?
Summertime is concert time, and I was lucky enough to see VAMP at the charming old Ormelet at Tjøme in June. VAMP is a fantastic live band, that manages to convey every song as if it was the first time they performed it. Highly recommendable!
Google + has so far impressed me, it will be interesting to see what audiences will permanently start using Google + in favor of Facebook. It is also interesting to see when and how they are going to deal with the marketplace for advertisers.
What is your favourite resource library?

What’s the biggest challenge the digital communications industry is facing right now, and do this lead you to some predictions?
The most important challenge facing the market is to exploit the opportunities offered by multichannel and cross-channel marketing.
We are faced with conscious and demanding consumers, who expect the best quality and fastest delivery possible. The success lies in choosing the right technology with the right development opportunities, so that one is well prepared for new demands that come at a furious pace. I think we’ll see more and more environments melting together, to understand the different channels, and thereby creating relevance and take advantage of the given channel. Relevance is everything!
