Connecting with the now – and forever

Connecting with the now – and forever

In our line of work, we’re constantly tapping into the moment of now. How do we reach the people we want to talk to? How do we connect? What engages people and what do they talk about? We respond to that and create platforms and arenas that enable our clients to participate in the dialogue, making them relevant to the audience.

We strive to build lasting connections that build relationships with the brand and the audience. Nevertheless, the output tends to be now-focussed. Ever-changing, moving forward, adapting to what’s happening now – and what we predict the future will demand.

A website you visit, a social media platform, a creative campaign or even an app you download (at least one that’s useful to you) – they constantly change and evolve. If they don’t, we’re not doing our job.

The brands we work with need all of this. Most of them also need to preserve and enforce their heritage. What we do for them is making them relevant now, or setting up a strategy for the future. (Nevertheless, even a long-term strategy needs revision at some point.)

So it’s kind of therapeutic to appreciate the things in life that are in fact products our industry promote, but as opposed to the marketing efforts, are meant to last.

Here’s a couple of my favourites. What are yours?

As I was writing this post, I remembered an article by Mike Walsh, who has an interesting perspective on how our digital lives make us mistake momentum for meaning:

“Its just nice to be reminded that while the chaotic universe might not operate like Isacc Newton’s perfect celestial clock – through our devices and desires, we still have the capacity to create small moments of perpetuity.”
